BODY SHIFT COLLECTIVE MASTER TEACHER AND CHOREOGRAPHER
I officially began my dance training in 2003 at the University of Oregon as an undergraduate freshman with little experience. I studied modern and ballet, and made it into the touring company by senior year.
Upon graduation in 2007, I landed a job with Dancing People Company (Ashland, OR) where I was a full time company member for 7 years. In addition to ballet and modern, I also started studying contact improvisation, aerial dance, and teaching as a part of my practice.
I began working with Alito Alessi and the DanceAbility method (DA) in 2015. After doing the month long DA teacher training in Austin, TX produced by Body Shift/Art Spark Texas, I moved to Austin and began working as a freelance dancer. In 2017, I did another level of DanceAbility training to earn my Master Teacher certification.
Since living in Austin I have developed deep connections in both the traditional and non-traditional dance worlds. Currently, I work and train as a modern dancer, contact improviser, aerialist and inclusive dance practitioner.
I am a full time member of one of Austin’s longest standing professional dance companies, Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company, and annually present work through Body Shift. I also teach movement classes weekly for the Austin Independent School District in addition to other private and studio classes.
